Pixie Price, (Pom and Contemporary Dance)

Pixie Price Exeter dance teacher of Pom & Contemporary dance Joanna Mardon School of Dance

IDTA (Associate) Freestyle / Street Dance, ID Dance Teacher status (Contemporary)

I began my dance training at a local dance school at the age of 3 taking classes in Ballet, Tap and Theatre craft. Although I enjoyed the genres I definitely didn’t excel in them! It wasn’t until I successfully auditioned to be a company member for Surrey County Youth Dance Company at age 14 that I discovered my love for Contemporary dance. Being with SCYDC led me to perform as a company member and soloist at Sadler’s Wells, Her Majesty’s Theatre and The Royal Albert Hall.

I continued studying Contemporary Dance into college, and was lucky enough to spend a season with Rambert Dance Company and a season as a cheerleader for Fulham Football Club ‘The Cravenettes’. I continued to take classes in all dance genres at Pineapple Dance Studios in Covent Garden which led to performing as a back up dancer on Top of the Pops! My dancing has taken my around the world performing in pantomimes, at holiday camps and clubs.

After working in the fitness industry for a while, I finally decided to take my teaching exams with the IDTA and hold my Associate in Street Dance / Freestyle and hold Contemporary Teacher Status with ID Dance Company. I have been lucky enough to dance alongside names such as Ryan Jenkins, Melinda Messenger, Samantha Dennis and Brynn Rumfallo. I also had the privilege of meeting and dancing with Darcey Bussell at The Royal Ballet School whilst training in her dance fitness programme DDMIX that I am qualified to teach. Darcey signing my pointe shoe was probably the highlight of my life!

I have been teaching dance since 2013 and since moving to Exeter last year I have loved teaching for Miss Jo and bringing new dance styles to the school.
