Lisa Arnold

Lisa Arnold - Ballet & Contemporary Dance Teacher Joanna Mardon School of Dance

I started dancing at the age of 6 at the Catherine Hall School of Dance and trained in RAD Ballet and Modern Dance. I passed all my RAD Ballet exams from Grade 1 up to Intermediate level, and regularly entered local Dance festivals performing Ballet, Modern and Character solo’s. As a child I also enjoyed performing with a local Amateur Theatre group and in Pantomimes with Exeter Little Theatre Company.

Whilst studying GCSE Dance at Secondary School I discovered my love for Contemporary Dance. I performed with Devon Youth Dance Company touring around the County and then continued to study Dance at A Level at Exeter College. It was here that I realised I wanted to pursue Dance further within the professional dance field.

After completing my A Level’s, I gained a scholarship to train at London Contemporary Dance School for a BA (Hons) in Contemporary Dance. During my training I worked with internationally renowned choreographers such as Richard Alston, Siobhan Davies, Jiri Kylian, and Henri Oguike. On completing my degree, I gained a place with the Post Graduate Performance Company EDge at London Contemporary Dance School, touring in works by Wayne McGregor, Carol Brown and Philippe Decoufle’.

Upon graduating, I worked as a freelance dancer before undertaking a Secondary PGCE in Dance at Exeter University. I have been teaching Dance in Education for 14 years teaching GCSE and A level Dance and currently teach in a local Secondary School. I love teaching young people and sharing my passion for Dance and the Arts. Ballet has always been my passion and I was keen to develop my skills further within this field. In 2012, I completed the Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies with the RAD.

Since then I have taught for various local dance schools in between working in Education and bringing up my little boy. I am very much looking forward to working with Miss Jo and becoming a part of her wonderful school.
